Dawn works as a product manager in the tech world and loves her job. She is also raising two great teenagers so has her hands full between work and parenting. Dawn’s 25-year marriage was not so wonderful. Married to a man who Dawn described as controlling and manipulative, Dawn began to realize her life was deeply out of balance and her happiness disappearing. Despite her fears of starting over at 46 years old, Dawn made the choice to leave. Her anger and sadness were overwhelming. She felt consumed with stress and fears about the divorce, the impact on her children, and starting a new life amid a global pandemic.
When her legal team offered her the chance to participate in the Window of Clarity, Dawn saw an opportunity to find a more balanced mindset, to feel less consumed and overwhelmed with life mid-divorce. As she worked through the Be Me course, Dawn began to gain the strength to face the truths about her marriage that she had been avoiding. She was able to see that it was not the loving relationship she wanted in her life, that it was based more on fear and deeply negative patterns than she had realized. She said, “I realized I’d been like a leaf in the wind, blown wherever the relationship wanted me to go. I don’t want that. I want to stand up for myself and not avoid conflict to my own detriment.”
Taking a hard look at her life through Window of Clarity’s questions and setting goals for what it is she really wanted, Dawn was able to begin to create a life that supported her happiness and self-worth. She began to build new traditions with her kids, reconnect to friends she had drifted away from, and believe that she was indeed strong enough to get through this divorce.
